FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where do benchmarks come from?
Benchmarks are derived from the Healthfuse national client network and aligned by vendor strategy (e.g., early out, bad debt, TPL).
What if our vendor scope differs from others?
Vendor scope can influence benchmark comparisons. As we continue refining scope mapping, peer groups will be adjusted to ensure the most relevant comparisons.
How is “Opportunity vs. Top 25%” calculated?
This reflects the estimated dollar difference between current vendor performance and the selected benchmark percentile. It is intended to provide directional insight into potential improvement opportunities.
Should we be concerned about lower percentile rankings?
Percentiles are meant to guide discussion, not conclusions. Factors such as vendor scope, payer mix, placement age, and contract structure can influence positioning.
What is included in Cost to Collect?
Cost to Collect factors in total vendor fees against total vendor collections. It does not include internal labor or non-vendor collections.
Where does Net Patient Revenue (NPR) come from?
NPR is sourced from publicly available hospital data and updated annually. If it is felt that the NPR reported for your health system is inaccurate, please notify your Client Services resource and Healthfuse will adjust.
Do the timeframes align with your fiscal year?
Yes. Performance metrics align with your organization’s fiscal year.
Can benchmarking data be explored in more detail?
Yes. Additional benchmarking insights can be provided by the Healthfuse team as needed.
Why might some values appear unusual or missing?
Occasionally, this can occur due to vendor scope or data mapping. These items are reviewed and validated as part of the reporting process.
Does lower vendor performance mean a vendor should be replaced?
Not necessarily. Benchmarking is designed to identify opportunities for improvement and inform strategic discussions around optimization.
